Defeat the Challengers.A Trial for All Seasons WalkthroughAn elven structure of sorts can be found east to the Driftwood-field Waypoint, across the river. There will be four statues surrounding a brazier in the location. This fight is extremely doable at 13. I had a team of Fane (necro/pyro/poly), Red Prince (fighter), Ifan (ranger/summoner), and Lohse (hydro/aero). Lohse had the Glowing Idol of Rebirth and the Morning Person talent. I positioned Lohse and Ifan on the platform before the battle began. First round, I focused on stripping magic armor from a couple enemies.
Fane summoned bone widow. Lohse sent Autumn on a short beach vacation with teleport.
From there, it's just basic CC with focus fire. Petrify, shock/stun, knock down, charm. Ifan summoned and powered up incarnate champion. Once one is down (and another is trying to get back from the beach), the battle is nearly won. Just keep your people armored and take the enemies out one by one. Don't be discouraged if your first try is a disaster like mine was. On my second try, using some revised tactics and planning, I easily mopped the floor with them.
The timings on the trees are driven by the time-to-live of terrain states. If you're hoping to pop the fight with a single character doing all of the actions, you have to plan a little.
1) Blood on Spring (blood stays) 2) Position your dude(s) and quicksave. 3) Water puddle to Winter, water puddle to Autumn (I used balloons) 4) Fireball to Autumn 5) Ice to Winter (I used a scroll, recommend the same since it feels faster to re-up than casting) 6) Shock to Autumn 7) Laser Ray to Summer Took me a try or two to not get clumsy when clicking abilities. There is no forgiveness for mistakes or misclicks after the fireball, so adjust your ability bar accordingly so you aren't fishing for items, as you don't have time to fish for items once that steam cloud is up. Well, I didn't have time; you might be faster than I.
With two Lightning users this fight is not much if at all difficult (need high enough initiative). Summer might have a random location phonix dive so can't tell this method is repeatable for others but best if he goes first for this to work. Have the fastest mage teleport Winter in such a way AoEs hit all 3 (summer spring winter) if possible, next Worm tremor with torturer talent on all of them should make Spring harmless (even if it says he has earth immunity it only protects him from damage). Cast Rain and obliterate their 3 with Lightning damage (stun). Autumn shouldnt be a problem at all after wiping the rest. This fight is no joke; especially if you are at or below level 14. You absolutely must use CC to win this fight.
For your ranged characters, it helps to teleport them up on the platform behind the Spring Totem tree. Be wary though! The Autumn enemy (the one with two daggers) can teleport up to them and one shot them easily. CC him first. Your next CC target should absolutely be Spring (the 2hander guy.) He hits incredibly hard, and can one shot two characters at once with his Blitz. If you cannot CC those two, then high Physical armor is a must for this fight; regardless, you should dedicate a character to improving your team's protections as much as possible.
Winter shouldn't be too much of a problem. I melted him (sorry) quite fast with a necromancer, so I didn't get to see all of his abilities, but he didn't seem to do anything terribly strong. Strong physical attacks followed by a battering ram or slam will take him out of the fight for good. I kept Summer (the ranger) CC'd as a precaution, but because of his starting position in the fight, he was unable to shoot my ranged characters on the platform without repositioning himself. He targeted my other characters instead. Idk if he starts every fight like this, so YMMV.
If he doesn't crit, Summer won't one-shot any of your team. I have an elementalist wizard with aero/pyro/geo/hydro/summoning and polymorph so the first step was easy as hell, then I have Red Prince with a two handed weapon and warfare/geomancy, Sebille with dual wielding and scoundrel/necromancy and Lohse with sword and shield + necromancy/aero/hydro/summ and polymorph. The fight was easy for me. I had them all gathered in the middle and removed the magic armor of the enemies asap (which is not that much). Then used medusa head with my two polymorphs and gg. I think one of the enemies had more magic armor and I focused him with Sebille.
I'm late to the party, but I just had to complete this again on honour mode so I thought it would be good to document what I did: 1) Start by casting Raining Blood on the spring totem. The blood stays on the ground so the totem will stay activated (the purple swirl around the totem indicates it's active). 2) Next cast rain on the autumn totem, followed by Searing Daggers to create a steam cloud. The steam cloud should stay in place which will prime this totem for the next steps.
3) Now add the following skills to your bar: Electric Discharge, Laser Ray, and Hail Strike. 4) Quickly cast Electric Discharge on the vapor cloud near the Autumn totem, Laser Ray on the Summer totem, and Hail Strike on the Winter totem. No reason you shouldn't be able to do this solo. I should also mention that the amount of damage the spells do have nothing to do with defeating the riddle.
You could run back to the boat and have a melee character spec into the skills needed and still qualify. All the riddle cares about is that you create the correct conditions using the correct spells within the given time limit.
